Somehow in this week of no tutorials, all free time seem to vanish somewhere. I blame cooking, takes so freakin long. It's a miracle that my mom can make 3 dishes in one hour, whereas I'm about 1/2-1/3 as efficient.

To illustrate why, here's fancy cold noodles. I shouldn't have such high standards for food now that I'm personally cooking, but habits die hard:

Second year isn't that bad so far, hours keep dropping as labs occur rarely, and some tutorials are out right being told by profs as optional. So maybe hovering around the mid-20s in terms of hours so far. Lots of assignments though, so another time sink.

Have lots of photos to use as catch-up/filler materials, but too lazy to open PS and resize them (actually takes less than 10mins). They'll be up eventually. Dragon.

All done fieldbook! The quality of work is debatable, but done is done (y). Man it's the first assignment and my attitude is already like this, will never get PEY at Arup at this rate gg.

But today is mostly a chill day, Dave took me out on birthday date. Watched The Mortal Instruments (Godfrey Gao as the warlock! hooooot) & dinner at Don Don Izakaya (impressive sake menu).

I feel like this is the equivalent of Hunger Games but supernatural, and maybe hotter guys. But then again I never watched Hunger Games so what do I know. I also think it would have been a much better plot if Valentine happened to be the good guy in the end. But then again I haven't read the books so maybe that is what happens (I hope). If only this was a Kaori Yuki manga (the sibling love is cutting a close).

Dinner :D

Izakayas are like Japanese dim sum, but more expensive and is usually eaten for dinner.
Clockwise, honey plum shochu cocktail, seafood fried noodles, agedashi tofu (the sauce is good!), tako wasabi (really strong wasabi taste, would have been good with steamed rice), hokke with garlic butter (delicious!) and chirashi (my cheap way of eating sashimi).

Good day with the boyfriend, but then again so is pretty much everyday with him. I promise this is the cheesiest thing you'll see in a while.

Dinner from previous times

Left is cold noodles made long ago (the toppings make a difference!) and right is pad thai from Papaya at chestnut reunion. They have good portion sizes for how much you pay, I got two meals from that, and tasty too :)

record

Still working on fieldbook from civ201. Almost 90 pages of work for a 3 day course "orz

More vscocam'd photos as filler:
Digital zoom really destroys the quality of photos e_e"

Low light also destroys the quality of photos. But delicious delicious hotdog charred in the campfire.

I was not aware that quarries can look this beautiful. I can probably pass this off as a foreign land or something.

ups and downs

Starting from yesterday afternoon,

Good: Tempt 9 taste delicious (and has pretty packaging, which is how Rui ended up buying it)
Bad: drinking it on an empty stomach led to immediate redness on my entire face, followed by being too dizzy to stand up. I've pretty much had equal amount of times of good and bad reactions to alcohol.
Good: seeing high school friends again at dinner and teasing Rui :D love youuu
Bad: sleeping late after waking up at 7 cause the twins picked a really early flight.
Good: cake for breakfast, cake for any meal is good (y)
Bad: cleaning. Needs no elaboration other than the fact that I swear this place has never been cleaned for years.
Good: Odo and Amy came over for SGS, fun times.
Bad: deciding to go for late night ayce kbbq. It's hard to appreciate the taste of meat when you've had way too much of it.

and finally,
Good: hearing the cheers of f!roshs as they wake around downtown. Second year leggo!

curd tart

More catching up via food photos (y)

Nabeyaki at Ema-Tei, one of the few Japanese restaurants with Japanese staff (and authentic food according to reviews).

It was really good, and comforting like a hotpot dish is suppose to be. Was on lunch special for $8.50 (normal price $13.50), which is a really good deal as you get a lot of seafood. Recommended!

I remember a line in The Devil Wears Prada that says something like the internship is the lowest pay highest perk job, which is kind of like the Sky Garden job. It's minimum wage, but you get a selection of the freshest produce and an amaaazing view.

There's quite a few varieties of pepper that we grow. This week was a bumper crop of tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, and beans (so pretty much everything). Was such a workout carrying them all to the food bank.

But nothing beats having a nice dinner with friends ;D One Hour has a wonderful atmosphere for that, they also never rush you out.

Thanks Janice/Nick/David for the delicious cake. They sorta got smushed on the way back, but all the more excuse to eat them all!
