I ended up getting the Fluevog double monks as my second pair of primary work shoes. They're far more comfortable than my loafers ah ha...
 

I expect that these will age well, my last pair of oxfords lasted around 3 years, so let's try to make this one last 5. The first step to do that is to get rubber protective soles, and then not to be lazy with wiping it down after every wear. Luckily shoe maintenance is not a chore to me (eg. spent the entire morning today conditions all my shoes). I do wish that these come with shoe trees though.
