Is Murakami your favorite author? Great song btw.

It's a toss up between him and Vonnegut.

You have any recommendation for the most approachable Murakami book? I flipped through Norwegian Wood since there was a really good quote I heard from it (that I sadly don't remember), but I never really started reading it. Have you read any John Irving (A Prayer for Owen Meany, Cider House Rules, The World According to Garp)?

Hmm..approachable, that's difficult. I started with Norwegian Wood, and so did a couple of people that I know. Murakami's book fall loosely into two categories "everyday contemplative" or "epic crazy adventure". Norwegian Wood is the former, along with my favourite South of Border, West of the Sun. 1Q84 is the latter, so is Wind-Up Bird Chronicle, Sputnik Sweetheart. After Dark is really short, so maybe start with that?
No I have not! I'll take a look into those, thanks for the rec.
